We all need summer to come, we have resorted to risking the safety of the newborn to entertain Milo. But it worked for a little while and nobody ended up with injuries. I thought I'd sit down and post since I just got back from a snowy 15 minute jog. I love running in the snow, but when I am so out of shape it is not as much fun, as it is good to get fresh air and some alone time with my Ipod. By the way the whole blog bribe thing doesn't work perfectly because often times I will blog when there was no prayer that i could have worked out that day, so it just turns into blog guilt instead of blog fun. But it is still a good reward for when I did work out. I have lost 6 pounds on WW so far in 3 weeks. YIPEE! I can't really feel it in my clothes yet, so I am still preferring to wear sweat pants until I can magically put on those GAP jeans that I bought before I had Milo. And the plan is for those to be too big so I can buy some new jeans. Plus we have two swimsuit vacations this summer and I don't want to be hiding behind a sun dress like I always do. Wow, the sun....what a nice thing to think about. I am almost ready to go to a cancer bed to catch some rays on my face, I am looking like a sick person, and the bronzer isn't doing it. But, I am getting afraid of skin damage/aging so, we'll see how long I can hold off.

Longing for Sunnier days

Ya or Yes
What great options!!! Never a no, Never a na, never a we'll see. That's apparantly what Milo would only like to hear from my mouth. He wanted to dump some toys in Makay's bath and I told him, na...(nicely)then I told him we'll see if you can when he's out( a little more firm)...then I told him no. His reply was "Mom, either ya, or yes." I wish that worked with getting raises, scholarships, favors, etc. "Look grandma...I really need a babysitter for the rest of the Saturday's of the year and you can only say Ya or Yes" That Milo is on to something.....We might all want to take notes. He's going to be a great salesman when he grows up.

5 Years Together
The last five years in a flash.
January 14, 2003 Married in the Mt. Timp Temple
May 2004 Kristen Graduates from SUU
August 2003 Bought first home
May 2005 Milo is Born
January 2006 Trip to Hawaii
November 2007 Makay is Born
January 2008 Celebrate 5th Anniversary
All of the days in between have been filled with fun memories of short trips to Bear Lake, St. George, or Lake Powell. We love to have fun together...I especially love going to Lake Powell because that is where I first fell in love with Josh and it's like I fall in love with him every time we go down there. He loves the water and I love to see him so happy. Plus he looks hot when he's behind the boat. One of my favorite things to do with Josh is drive in the car, I just realized it is because we really don't talk much at home because we are into our own stuff, but when we get in the car, it is like I'm on a roadie with my best friend. (most of the time) Josh is a great dad and husband and I love it when he flexes in the mirror for me after he does his push-ups. It always makes me giggle. He also came home and downloaded/dedicated this song fo me when he heard it on the radio. I felt like I was in high school...it was so sweet. We were best friends growing up and it is so fun to fall in love with your best friend. I am so grateful to have such a good marriage to somebody who is willing to understand me...if I give him the chance. Tonight we're going out to Carvers for dinner to celebrate. We don't usually buy gifts for our anniversary because it is right after Christmas and in between birthdays, but mark my words...when our budget is more flexible I am going to be requesting Diamonds and exotic vacations for anniversary gifts and I am going to be giving tools and remote control gas powered cars. At this time in our life, I couldn't be more grateful for dinner and a babysitter, and some free time at the blog.

Reclaiming my life
I need to thank Brooke, Kristin, Bryn, and Aly for helping me reclaim my life. I have been thoroughly frazzled since Makay came to live with us and I got some much needed mommy time this week with these friends. I like to talk to people about my frazzleness to see if they have any tricks that help get things back to normal. Brooke suggested that I get a discipline system... I would like to think that I have one, but it has turned into yelling and idle threats since the frazzle. So now I give 2 choices and it is working wonders. Except when the choice is go to bed, or be in time out...he picks time out. So I had to rephrase that one.
Bryn, Kristin, and Aly made fun me because I complain about being tired and then they found out that Milo goes to be at 10:00 pm and ends up in our bed half the time. I am greatful they pointed that out to me..cause once again....when you're frazzled nothing seems as simple as it is. So last night...with the super nanny training video playing on the internet, i cracked down. I cant take it anymore. He isn't scared, he is just crazy and bouncing off the walls and pretty much controls everything. So I started putting him in his bed and when he got out, I put him back. I bet I put him back around 40 times, and when Josh got home, they had a man talk and he fell right asleep. The same thing happened tonight, except I only had to put him back 10 times and then the man talk did the trick. The man talk goes something like this..."Milo what do big boys do?" Milo says, "They don't sleep with their mommies and they go to sleep all by their self" That sort of breaks my heart, poor guy, but we can't take it anymore and tonight he was sleeping by 8:45. And now I am wasting "Our time" on the blog, but i am so excited and I thought you all deserved a big THANK YOU for your support and advice. Yea for the Mendenhall's!!! I have never been successful with sleep training with Milo since he was born. I have tried almost everything and never had any results. This shows that he is really a big boy.
FYI: I lost 2.5 pounds on Weight Watchers the first week, I am still loving it. I didn't work out today but I went to the homeless shelter to serve breakfast...that kind of counts...doesn't it?

Graduation / weight watchers
Makay's Blessing Day
Makay got blessed on Sunday. It was such a good day. I think Milo had the most fun because all of his cousins came over to his house and played after church. He loves having friends over. And I wasn't frazzled at all (suprisingly) I assigned almost all the food out to willing relatives and my mom bought his darling outfit. I reminded myself that it is about him, and nobody cares what I look like or how clean my house is. Oma and Opa didn't make it because of the snow storm, neither did Danny and Annie (Milo definately has a crush on Melia after she came over last week, he would be heartbroken to know that he could have seen her again.) but it was wonderful anyway. He looked so cute in his "full body sweater" as uncle Adam would call it and I was so sad to take it off him at the end of the day. We went up to Aunt Debbies on Monday to have her take pictures of him in it and I was sad again to take it off him. So needless to say he might be wearing it to church until he grows out of it or until it is too hot for sweaters.

Blogging....good as chocolate for me
I have been trying to find some sort of reward system for exercising. It has been 8 weeks and I officially no longer have the pregnant/just had a baby excuse for not exercising. I have always been good about it my whole life and I am ready to get back to my old self. I don't like anything good enough to entice me to exercise....except blogging. I thought of all the possible rewards. Facials are too expensive, chocolate won't do the trick it reverses any good that was just done, time to myself is not possible because it requires the burden of somebody else, so I turned to my new found love...blogging. It is like dangling a treat in front of a puppy when you want him to roll over. So if you have any comments on your blog or see a new post on mine, I want to be congratulated because it means that I have just completed a workout or have worked out some time that day. I am going to weight watchers this week to try to get some of those post baby pounds off (16 to be exact). I'll be documenting on here also so I can get some cheering on from all of my blog friends. And I'll be happy to do the same for you. Hopefully this works, because I would really like to be thin for the summer. That has been the plan for the last 7 years and it has never really happened. Thanks and love you all...I loved seeing how fun Christmas was and I am still waiting for some more posts...(you know who you are)
PS I want to invite anybody to lunch for Kristin Perry's birthday/blog friends get together at the Olive Garden. Let me know it you want to go and what days work best for you.
