A walk down memory lane

Last Friday I went to get the mail and I had a wonderful suprise waiting for me. Aunt Julie sent 95 pictures in the mail clear from Georgia with a note that said "I was just taking a walk down memory lane and I thought you and your family would enjoy these." Well me and my family have been enjoying these and I thought I'd post some of them for posterity sake. Aunt Julie was like a second mom to Phil and I growing up and she still loves our kids and we always look forward to spending time with her and the girls whenever we can. Phil and Erica also got a pack of pictures and we have all loved looking through them.

My first car...we still have it and I still have that tank top with a black greasy handprint on the back from the car wash water fight we got in that day.
Oma, Me, Jackie, and Julie...Mom and Julie loved making us clothes...here is a lovely floral
cotton print two piece outfit, to go with my perm.

Me and Oma on the jet ski at Pineview

Jackie and Me trying to have cleavage...I bought that Mossimo swimsuit from ZCMI when
Mossimo was expensive. The necklace I am wearing is one Phil bought me from Underground Atlanta on his Senior Trip and I never took it off during his whole mission. Actually, this day his mission comp Elder Reeve was with us at Pineview.
Me and Jackie were playing in a puddle at Downtown Disney one night and Jackie slipped and fell right into the water and was soaked. We laughed so hard we nearly peed our pants, at least Jackie could cover it up. Seriously...who let me walk around with my shirt tucked in and a belt everywhere I went? I am one of those "not dressing for your body type" people.

The ornery one....that's me. I am sure every one of you that has every spoken to me in person has witnessed this look. So sorry, I am working on it and I realize that it makes people think I am a jerk. If looks could kill. Don't you love my "Units outfit" My mom made it and I would pretend that I was a "white belt" in karate. I think I was the only one that didn't know that white belts aren't that cool.

My mom make me this dress. I LOVED IT!!!! Where were the thinning shears and hair product when you needed it most?
This is my bedroom growing up. Peach bedding, a homemaking project had with dried flowers on teh wall and darling baby Marcus (you can see why he is the favorite) digging through my caboodle while I am trying the sleep. The sad thing is that it is probably 11:00 AM, I have always loved my sleep. Don't mess with me when I'm tired.
Another belt with the shirt tucked in.
Socks up to my calf? Not much better. The best part is my striped Girbaud shorts, with loafers. My dad had the same pair of shorts and I would be so embarrased when we'd wear them at the same time, I'd go change. The second best part is the leggings my mom is wearing with the dress shirt over it. Nice. I think that is back in style.

I don't remember this but....Makay is that you?

Who is that smart person wearing the glasses? Oh wait that's me.

Another Shirt tucked in....this time with high socks and hiking boots. Where is that Flat Iron???

Three things here...I was always dancing and singing for people, I always walked around with a shirt and no pants (my college roomies thought this was so wierd, I don't know why) And those faux finish walls that Dawn Hill painted for us in the add-on in our old house.

Thanks Aunt Julie!!! We loved the walk down memory lane. We love you and miss you!

Walking down memory lane with you was like walking down memory lane with myself. I had all those same outfits, including a mossimo swimsuit from ZCMI, (no cleavage for me either). I haven't seen you do that scowl face either, clearly I'm missing out.

Sis,

Despite the grumpy looks and belt-related fashion faux pas, we loved you as a young girl. You and I had a great childhood - almost the same childhood. We were (are) very close in age and were able to grow up together. I'm not sure where along the time-line you passed me up on the maturity scale, probably puberty. Your work ethic and nose for a good time continue to give us lofty goals to shoot for. Thanks for being you. Keep up the healthy self affirmations. A white belt in karate still sets you apart from us beltless Nachos.

Loved the pix. And the commentary was priceless. Where would we be without flatirons?!

AWWWWE what a sweet brother to write here for all to see how much he loves you! I totally see my in the good ol' days when I look at these! except my parents couldn't pay me enough to look cute with any thing tucked in. I was a little fashion backwards, but oh well I'd like to think I came out if it ok.

I LOVE those pictures. They bring back so many memories of our childhood. Remember how our moms sewed us matching outfits. Those were classic. Didn't we have some shirt with hot dogs on it?
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. It was great!
